Everything to convert auto to t-5
Hey guys, first off I know you guys are going to say search search and search but I am looking for a quick reply and don't have time to search, Sorry. I am looking for everything needed to convert a 89 T/A auto to a T-5. I know of a 91 camaro with a T-5 and I would love to find a list of everything needed since the car is an hour and a half away and I have to go pull all parts.
Thanks for the help.
Mike

you had time to post this, but not enough to simply look in the tech section?

take everything you can. You will need to find a firebird specific upper console plate. Good luck with that one.

transmission w/ bellhousing
shifter and shiftplate (from a Firebird)
clutch and flywheel
pedals
crossmember (don't need it but might as well grab a spare)
master and slave assembly (has the resevoir attached to the brake booster)
torque arm mount (look at your mount to see which way the torque arm mount points, either towards the driveshaft or away, if both cars are the same, all you need is the mount, if yours is different, then you need the mount and the torque arm from the donor car.)
Reverse light plug and wires

86 TA, Thanks for the info. I knew there was a list just couldn't find it, but found one at f body motorsports. I am a full time college student and I also work 40-50 hours a week so having time to browse the internet is kind of tuff to do while in class.
Zepher, I appreciate it. Helps alot. Have one question though. Is the 91 camaro a cable or electronic driven speedo? I believe my 89 TA is? Is there a conversion kit for this? Or is it just plug in and go? Will the computer have any issues with this (TPI)? Not really worried about the neutral saftey switch but am worried about computer and speedo drive.
Thanks a bunch!

91 Camaro is electronic and so is your 89, should be plug and play.
The Speed Sensor is geared to the Gear Ratio in the rear end, so you will need to get the Sender Gear to match the Gear Ratio you have on your car.
I don't remember if the Speed Sensors are the same or different on the Auto and Manuals, if they happen to be the same, use the one in your automatic.
I ran my 88 with the the stock automatic PROM for a year or so after my swap and had no issues.
My car had the connector for the Neutral Safety Switch behind/above the drivers side kick panel, so you may have it as well, so grab it from the donor car and hook it up.
