tv cable

i dont think i have one, so i have no idea where one is supposed to connect to, i know it is supposed to connect to my carb and to the trans, but i dont know exactly, could anyone show me where it connects onto the trans? cause i planned on ordering me a new one today

the transmission doesnt shift down at high throttle, and it doesnt always want to go into park, also takes a while for 4th to kick in, ive read a bunch on the tv cable, but cant find any info really on where it connects to on the transmission, or what i need to do to connect it precisely to my quadrajet

Re: tv cable

On my transmission the cable went in to the transmission on the passenger side almost right above the back corner of the pan. It went in straight down from the top.

Re: tv cable

are you certain you have a 700r4? might the previous owner have done a swap? you could have a module by the tailshaft of the tranny where a vacuum line connects ...

Re: tv cable

thanks for the quick replies

no im not 100% sure, im just guessing, if that were the case, what would distinguish it from a 700r4 that i could tell just from a looking at the bottom? ill go out and look for a vacuum module in a minut

Re: tv cable

IIRC... the pan itself will have an angle at one of the corners...

Re: tv cable

yep, found it, the cable has been cut off right above the little sleeve that goes around the base of the cable, yet ANOTHER reason to hate the PO... i found a cable for 22 bucks on special order through autozone, idk if i should get it though, since my system was originally tpi im not sure if it will fit right, and would i have to get some sort of adaptor to connect to my carb?

Re: tv cable

yeah the PO was an idiot then. Unless he installed a manual valve body. Which from the sounds of things he didnt.

The TPI cars used longer cables, but they had the same connections. Id use one from a TBI car, they are shorter and will look a little cleaner.

Does your throttle bracket have a provision for the TV cable to hook to? (large square opening approximately 1") If not you will need to get one. Dont buy one of those cheap spectre ones, they usually flex a lot.
