TH350 question

Can you use the same cross member from a 700r4 on a TH350? Or do you need a different one. Thanks

Re: TH350 question

It could be modified. When I was using a Spohn torque arm and crossmember, it was for a 700R4. I swapped in a TH350 and modified the mount slightly. The TH350 sits roughly 2" forward from when the 700R4 mount is. Worked fine for me.

Re: TH350 question

I had used a b&m adapter kit when i swapped mine into the 89 RS. what are your plans for the torque arm? might want to think about that too when you're looking into your different options

Re: TH350 question

Just buy the b&m kit made for this change. Its like a hundred bucks and it works great. You can use the stock torque arm and stock crossmember with that kit. However, if your luck is as good as mine, just after I did the swap, I tore the bushings out of my crossmember and had to buy a new one. But still, the kit is the way to go.

Is it shown in that kit, because it doesn't look like theres anything for the torque arm to slip into?

Re: TH350 question

You reuse one off your 700r4. I know there were instructions in the kit, but if I recall, you use some supplied bolts(hardware store bolts) to attach it to the bracket off the trans. I will have my car up in the air tomorrow, if I remember, I will take a closer look at it and possibly take some pics for you.

Thanks man I really appreciate the help, and if you could show me some pics to reference that would be great. Either way thanks again.

Re: TH350 question

Sorry I have not gotten back to you, I have been working too many hours to work on my car, so hopefully in the next couple of days I will snap a pic for you. Just FYI, if you look on summits site, I believe they have the instrucions in pdf format for the conversion kit.

Re: TH350 question

Sorry it took me a bit to get back to you, been quite busy. I could not get any clear pics of the torque arm mount, but I will describe it the best I can. You need to remove the tq mount off your 700r4. What you use is the front piece of the two piece mount and the rubber inside of it. Basically, it just bolts up to the bracket with the bolts the kit originally came with and sandwiches the rubber in the middle. There are also two tangs that are on the bottom of the tq mount, those just sit the the slots of the new bracket. The bracket is tapped for them, so just go to a hardware store and get some bolts that thread into the holes. If I remember right, I had to bent the old mount piece to line up with the bolt holes.

Ok what are "tangs", and how does the front peice go on when there is a long bolt attached to the mount that doesn't line up nor size up to anything. The 700r4 mount is too long and doesn't line up to bolt anywhere. Here is a link with pics of old mount on 700r4, th350 bracket, and th350 bracket with mount mocked up. Take a look and tell me what i'm missing.thanks
