hey all,
going to be doing a posi swap tomorrow and heres my little "problem"
the posi that is going in is a drum unit, the rear thats in is a drum unit.... on the posi the driver side brake setup crumbled when i took the drum off.(springs and brackets and shoes) question is can i take the brake setup off my old rear and put it on the new one... both are drum setups. any help would be great before i do the swap..

Have you checked / compared the axle spline count?

 

by axle spline count..... you mean? sorry if i don't know.. but i have helped a few friends in the past taking a rear out and putting one in so i know the basics of doing so, i made sure i got matching gears, now is 3.23 and the new posi is also 3.23... that's about it

 

Not sure what car you're working on or what you have as a transplant posi unit but, the 90-92's had a higher spline count on the axles & limited slip (posi) unit. Just asking if your axles will slip into and accept the posi you want to use..?

Otherwise, your drum brake parts should swap no problem.
