T5 shifter boot

Seems like a dumb question, but where can I find a replacement boot for my stock T5 shifter?

I am getting ready for a T5 swap from 700R4, and the shifter I bought came without a boot on it. I have not been able to find any place where I could buy one.

I wonder if there is a readily available replacement, even if it isn't originally intended for this particular application? I can't be the only one who has this problem.

Although I haven't had dealt with them before, I have heard amazing things. Try www.birdsandbowties.com for the shifter boot if that is all you need. Finding a good shift plate w/ boot is pretty hard to find in good condition.

Re: T5 shifter boot

I knew I'd find the answer here... thanks... I am off to check those links out.

Thanks again.

OOPS... what I need is the boot that goes over the shifter mounting plate. I have a perfectly good shifter, but there is no boot on the plate that mounts on the trans

Re: T5 shifter boot

Bump... I need the boot that mounts right on the shifter itself. I have been wondering if there isn't a boot from another application that might work... maybe a CV boot or a master cylinder pushrod boot?

Re: T5 shifter boot

OK, I may have found a substitute part.

It is OEM part # 8134064 "Transmission Mounted Shifter Boot"

It is pretty widely available for the Jeep with T5. From the picture, it looks close enough, although it may have to be massaged to fit the thirdgen shifter. It cost me all of $9.90 shipped off e-bay.

When I get it, I'll let you all know what's up.

Re: T5 shifter boot

GOOD NEWS! The boot fits my shifter very well. I had to stretch it a little to get it installed, but it fits snugly and is not stressed or strained. This is a winner!
