I am having my mobile mechanic replace the speedo gears after a rear end change, and he is having trouble installing the drive gear due to it being a very tight fit. He is coming tomorrow, and I want to have some info. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank James, but what do I do with the "too tight gear" issue? It doesn't cover this on the web sight you gave me.

You might reread. The poster says, "it is almost pressed on the shaft, so you will need something to help you remove the gear. I use a 32mm wrench to "tap" it off the shaft."Originally Posted by Stevolwevol

I read the tapping off the shaft. The drive gear had to be broken off it was so tight. Tapping wasn't doing the trick.

I'm a T-5 kinda guy, so perhaps someone with 700R4 experience will drop in.
