New shifter for my T-5?

So apparently, one of the things I need in fixing up the Firebird I recently bought is a shifter. Looks like the stick is broken loose, and will easily pull out

Anyways, I'm just kind of curious what my options are? In the long run, I'm planning to do either a T-56 swap, or possibly looking into a stronger version of the T-5 (but most likely T-56). Therefore, I'm guessing that if I decided to buy something nice like a Hurst or B&M shifter now, that I couldn't use it if I decided to get a T-56 later? If that's the case, then how much could I expect to spend on an OEM shifter? (If I can find one, that is...).

Re: New shifter for my T-5?

it shouldnt be too hard to find a used one, lots of people upgrade their shifters and probably have the original laying around taking up space. try searching the classified part of the forum and if you don't find one try posting a wanted ad
