t4 to TH350
I have a 1982 Camaro with a 305 with a 4 speed transmission. I'm going to swap the 305 and tranny for a 350 th350. I asked about a week ago if I need a 6" shaft or a 9" shaft, I got the the 6" shaft. I now need to know if I can use the same torque arm from the 4 speed tranny for the th350 or will I need to buy a adjustable torque arm? I also have another question will a B&M shifter work well?

Re: t4 to TH350
I will answer my own question but still need answers. The cross-member from the 4 speed manual will bolt right up to a th-350 6" or 9" shaft. If you get a 9" shaft you will need to cut it 3" but the 6" will bolt right up. I now need to know what bracket I will need to buy for the torque arm and can I use the torque arm bushing from my 4 speed. I've been searching but haven't been able to come across anything. What would be a good adapter for the th350 for the shift cable? Also, I read that you'll need a different brake pedal but that doesn't make any since. I have one more how do you make it where your car doesn't start unless its in park because the race way will not let a car run with it able to start in gear or neutral.

Re: t4 to TH350
Well, now that no one has an answer. The torque arm looks like its about 3 to 4 inches short. I was wonder can I just drive the car without a torque arm? or will I roll the rear end?

Re: t4 to TH350
The torque arm is required unless you go to a different suspension setup. If you buy a new b&m shifter (since you mentioned it specifically) it will come with a shifter cable and a neutral safety switch to keep the car from starting in gear. The brake pedal doesn't have to.be changed.but would probably be more driver friendly with an auto. Hope this answered your questions.

Re: t4 to TH350
Well, if there is anyone doing this swap t4 to th350 or th200 to th350. The drive-shaft is perfect length with a 6" th350, if you get a 9" you will need cut your drive-shaft 3". The cross-member will bolt right up, the only problem I ran into is the torque arm. You can B&M tranny conversion kit and use the torque arm bracket. The bracket will hook up to the back of the th350 and then to the torque arm. I hope this thread helps someone out later when they try this swap

This is a picture of the torque arm to mount to the tail-shaft. I took this picture from the hole that was left over from my t4 shifter. I have my bracket on the way to mount the torque arm to the tail shaft, i will take a picture of it so people can see what it looks like.

Re: t4 to TH350
I finally got the bracket used t4 torque arm, torque arm bushing fit perfect no modding or nothing. The B&M th200/th700r4 to th350 will work from 4 speed transmission to th350. You will not need the crossmember bracket.

Re: t4 to TH350
I have done this exact change on my 82. I used a 6" tailstock (see below) transmission and the T10 (4 speed) cross member, the stock drive shaft and torque arm as well.
For the tailstock, likely much harder to find these days then it was for me 20 years ago (yes I have had my 82 that long!) but the secrete sauce is to find a Monza or other H-body with a TH350 and use the tailstock from that car. They have a torque arm and the h-body tail stock has the torque arm mount. Just took some very minor moding of the bracket.
For what it is worth, I regret not keeping the 4-speed!
