Shifter or Transmission problem?

The last two times I went WOT from gear 2-3, it hasn't actually went into 3rd. Instead, it just revs like it's in neutral. Also, sometimes when I put it in park and let off the break, the car will start rolling and I'll have to move the shifter in and out of park until it actually goes into park. Anybody got any idea what's going on here? It sounds like something that would happen if the shifter cable wasn't short enough or something, I really don't know what to look for to fix this problem.

Re: Shifter or Transmission problem?

wot 2-3 is a sign that the 3-4 clutch pack is going out. I have had 2 trannys do that to me...

The not stayin in park is definitely the cable.

Damn, supposedly the tranny was freshly rebuilt. So what the hell could I do to fix the park issue? Is a worn cable common?
