Hey guys,

Need help with this problem. No real experience with auto's. I've read a lot of threads but I may have 2 different problems going on here. 1st, 87 IROC with a 305 TPI and 700R4. Just got the car on road. Previous owner installed a shift kit. Car goes 1st-3rd no problem. Never goes into OD. When I pull shifter into 1st, it acts like its in 2nd.

Ok I can see if the linkage is not setup correctly it may not go into 1st but since OD is right after neutral, shouldn't it still go into OD? Does this sound like a TV cable adj or bad clutches?

look on the trans driver side. and right about the pan and shift linkage there should be a connector. as dumb as it sounds make sure its plugged in. im in search of some MAJOR trans help to lol

Plug is connected. Don't see anyway to adjust shifter cable. Read on forum that they stretch and just need to be replaced. Pulled old one out and waiting for part to come in.

 

sounds like the previous owner didnt do the shift kit correctly. if he forgot some of the check ***** then you wont have fourth.
