T5 USE A MOTOR PLATE - DOING SWAP
T5 USE A MOTOR PLATE - DOING SWAP
I want to install an 89 Firebird 5.0 into a Toyota Supra and have an 85 t5 and bellhousing as well as an 86 Camaro hydraulic clutch assembly. I got a new flywheel clutch and throwout bearing for the 89 engine as well as pilot bearing and Summit mini-starter and new HEI distributor. The hangup I am having right now is that I don't know if the mid and late 80's 5.0's used an engine plate. This would affect trans position in relationship to engine and perhaps bind pinion if it is supposed to have one and I assemble it without one. Can anyone tell me whether they used one's? Most Fords and aftermarket bellhousings used this plate between the engine and flywheel and so it doesn't strike me as right that there is none. Am I worried about nothing (besides wrath of Supra afficionado's?

no, they dont use a plate between the engine and the flywheel AFAIK. But aftermarket explosion proof bellhousings do have one.
the camaro t5 is made to mount at an angle, something like 18 degrees to the driverside? Not sure if that will be an issue for you.
