Shifting pains.....

Ok, I have a 700-r4. When I have the gear selector in 1st and floor it ,it will automatically go into 2nd gear around 4-4500 rpm.. If I let off the gas while in second gear and let the car slow to about 30-25, It will return back to first but shutter the car....

2nd gear to 3rd is great.

3rd gear floored will around 3,000 rpm will slip back to 2nd gear....

The TV cable makes no sense to me in adjusting by pressing the button on the side. Some people tell me to drop the pan and tighten the valve body bolts, others tell me get another trans...

YOUR HELP VERY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Shifting pains.....

All 700R4's do this at some point in 1st gear. If you want to hold 1st gear to any rpm, then you will need the TransGo Performance Shift kit. I carry the modified versions of these, that offer smooth part throttle 1-2 shifts and quick WOT shifts. The TV cable needs to be "tight" at WOT, with no more than a 1/16" of an inch play at the most. The adjustment is critical to the transmission life. DO NOT hold in in 1st gear and let it go to 2nd and then keep the lever in 1st gear and slow down like you did and have it come back to 1st gear. This can really be hard on the unit.
