Need help diagnosing a tranny problem.

I took my car to a local drag strip the other day and I was manually shifting my 700r4 and once I hit 3rd it acted as if I had put it in neutral. Then I tried to put it into overdrive it acted the same way. So when I tried to drive it home it had no 3rd or 4th gears now and it wants to slip out of 2nd whn I go over 3k rpm.So what I am asking is what do you think has gone wrong and do you think its worth getting a new tranny or fixing the one I have now. My car has a 385 fastburn with hot cam. The tranny was supposedly built to handle 500hp.....but obviously it couldn"t even take 400. But it has a 2200rpm stall and a shift kit in it. If the tranny supposedly has all these new and performance parts in it do you think I could just replace a certain piece?I went to one local transmission shop and he wants $1500 to redo the entire thing but I really dont think its worth it if it has already built race built once. What do you guys think?

I don't know how mechanically inclined you are or if you need to use your car everyday? If you do know how to turn whenches and don't need the car everyday you could rebuild it yourself. I did my own 700r4 with a haynes manual and it walks you right through it. You may just have a blocked passage or you may have jacked it all up. Drop the pan and see whats in the fluid. post a pic of the fluid

Sounds like the 3-4 clutches are smoked. Drop the pan and you'll probably see a ton of clutch material. If so, its rebuild time again.
I went thru the same thing a few years ago.

Try these guys out.

When I rebuild it how much do you think should be changed? Is it something that I can just get away with changing the clutches themselves or would this cause other parts to wear out.
