TV cable replacement without dropping transmission
Is it possible to replace the TV cable without dropping the transmission? I have a 1987 Trans Am and a parts car exactly like it. I was replacing the flex plate and was just about to bolt the transmission back up but I broke the TV cable in the process, and I don't really want to drop the transmission in the other car so I was wondering if it was possible to just get it off without doing that so I can put it on my other car.
It looks really tight under there, but I haven't jacked it up yet. It's sitting in a grassy field and I'm taking a break from transmissions for the moment. Just curious if anyone has done it and if it will be relatively easy compared to everything else I've done today.

I did mine without dropping the tranny. It is tight... I have small hands, so I got it with a small ratchet.

It's possible - I've done it. The PITA part is trying to get your head up in there far enough to see the little hook inside the tranny that hooks into the hole on the cable. It definitely helps to have an extra pair of hands - someone to pull on the other end of the cable and keep it taut so it doesn't come unhooked until you get the hold-down screw in place and get the cable secured.
