'83 non-World Class T5 issue
Alright, so we got the transmission out of the car and replaced the clutch fork, pivot ball, throwout bearing and input/output shaft seals. We put the trans back in the car and was trying to adjust the clutch (it's an 83, so it's mechanical, not hydraulic) and whenever I pressed in the clutch, the linkage would push the fork back, but then when I'm nearing the full throw of the pedal, the fork drops down about a 1/2 inch, which is not normal. The fork is supposed to move forward/backward, not down. So that is where we are stuck...why is this happening? Anyone have any suggestions?

Take a look at your z-bar and associated parts.

Yeah, we were thinking it might be in the linkage somewhere...either something broke or is bent maybe. Thanks for the write-up!

My guess would be the fork and fork pivot . I don't think that the throw out bearing could go too far forward and slide off of the sleeve on the input shaft, or could it? Any way, it sounds like you'll be taking things apart one more time.

Well we just replaced the fork and pivot ball with new parts. I don't know...we're thinking it might be in the clutch pedal linkage around the Z bar area.

Well it's been kinda unpredictable lately...lots of rain with spots of sun. I told my friends that are helping me to finish the truck that they are restoring before we rip into the Bird again...then there will be no distractions.
