would a pro 5.0 short shifter out of a mustang 5.0 fit the t-5 transmission in my 85 firebird?? get at me fast!!!

The Camaro/Firebird T5 and the Mustang T5 use completely different mounting patterns... The Mustang shifter footprint is rectangular, F-body is square. So, no, they won't interchange.

 

Actually this is quite incorrect. They are both rectangular. The mustang has about another half inch of shifter base in front. The two rear bolt holes as well as the shifter pod align with our t5's.

What has to be done is the two front holes redrilled after being carefully measured. What I did what took my stock and aftermarket shifter apart put two bolts through the back holes on the mustang shifter. I then bolted both bases together and then marked, drilled out the two front holes. There ya go!
