broken mounting tab
ok, attached is a picture of a broken mounting tab on the 700r4 tranny out of my 85 ta that came stock with a 305 carb. I plan on having the engine rebuilt in the future, can something like this just be put off til then? or does one mounting hole really make that much of a difference? I'm just gonna drop a cheap 305 in to get it running again.
it's on the passenger side, third from the bottom.

Re: broken mounting tab
As long as your not getting on the car hard you should have no effect, However, when you do accelerate hard it will slightly twist the bellhousing possibly binding the input shaft. another option to help that live a little longer is to clean all grease out of the break, drill a couple of holes in the broken area, mix up some JB weld and clamp together till dry. This is an OK fix for a DD but not for a performance build.
