VSS going bad or something else ?
Hi!
Today when I was driving the iroc at 110km/h i noticed the speedometer moved between 110 - ~113km/h (moved slowly up and down between thoose values) Never noticed it before and this is the first time it done it.
Tried different speeds and it did it on other speeds to like 135km/H (not as much there thou) and on slower speeds its much more stable. (I used the cruise control on a flat road so there was no hills etc changing the speed.
Ill try do a logfile (with datamaster) and see if it moves up and down there to just to have something to check against.
But what do you guys think? Is it the VSS going bad or something else ?
I dont think its the gauge itself thats the problem could it be the signal wire or the wire itself thats going bad ?
All thought and tips are welcome

If I remember correctly, the 89 camaro"s such as the one in your sig are cable driven, so your cable could be on its way out. In my situation with my Camaro it did bounce around before it wend out but it bounced more than 3 or so mph. If it indeed is a cable driven one you could remove the core and re-lube it to see if it helps.

Thanks for response.
Ill check if its a wire driven and if it is I start lubing it up and test again.
I will however log the car to see if the speed moves around in datamaster to.
If its stable there, its prolly the wire thats bad (doubt its the gauges..) and if it moves in datamaster to its the VSS thats bad right ? cause the ECM takes speed info from VSS right ? from the little signal cable coming out of it right ?

Your 89 Camaro will be cable driven. Check the following link for possible problems:
