Question about swapping from a auto to a manual
Question about swapping from a auto to a manual
I'm new to this but I was wondering if it is possible to replace the 700R4 auto in my 84 Z28 with a manual. There doesn't seem to be alot of room for a clutch pedal. So does anyone have any pics of the clutch pedal location and and the tranny install that would help me at all and any info would just be awsome right now because I would hate to keep the fragile auto tranny I have now. I have 3.23 gears in the rear and my old dirt track 355 engine.

The pedals are made as an assembly. If you buy a clutch pedal it will come with a brake pedal. There's room. Mounts with the same bolts. You will have to make a couple of new ones, but placement wont be a concern for the most part.

You need a lot of stuff.
Short list assuming you're going with a T5 or TKO:
Flywheel
Pilot bearing
hole in trans tunnel
hole in firewall
hydraulics
pedals
new console shifter plate
new prom if you're using factory EFI.
Are you wanting to do a T5? Or T56? Or TKO?
A T5 (stock 5 speed in third gens) is not gonna last near as long as your 700r4 will. They're made with weak sauce.
These are both thirdgen pedals. A 4th gen pedal assembly will work with modifications.
