What is an Ideal Manual Tranny

Hi, I have a 89 Iroc-Z. She used to have a 305tpi with a t-5 5-speed tranny. I have since had the 305 swapped out for a 350(approx 340 hp). I am still running the t5 tranny ( very gently i might add) and am wondering what is the best option for a replacement manual tranny. 5 or 6 speed? what brand \ model would be an easy fit? Thanks

a t56 is probably the best, cheaperst upgrade when you use a lt1 style t56, TKO's are nice, but are hard to find used, and they usually dont go cheap used.

If TKO600s could be had for free, brand new, that'd be the ultimate. But T56s do shift better.

I'll argue that all day long....

powershifting, nothing beats a TKO...ive beat on t56's, never been impressed with em really. day to day daily shifting, i cant notice a difference.

my TKO has been faceplated, and built by liberty...i LOVE IT!

Buy mine, bolts right in..everything works like it should, and its all brand new!

trans has 1k miles on it, and probably 5 or 6 hits at the track since being built by liberty.

Pm me if interested.
