Engine: 305 TPI
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: Stock
car dies when shifted in to any gear. idles fine. seems electronic
i swaped trannys and now it dies when i put it in any gear wheither i give it gas or not. its as if the coil loses power. ive also tried it with the lock up wire plug off and it does the same thing. my idle is fine. any ideas?

Kinda sounds like the torque converter is staying locked
even with the plug off and is stalling the engine when
the tranny engages a gear-try it with the rear wheels
jacked up off the ground and see what happens...

yeah i have the car on jack stands. the wheels will spin for a second. but then kaput

I had the exact same thing happend to my other camaro, turned out to be the converter. Have it looked at by some one who knows about transmissions they should be able to tell you if it's the converter.
