transmission options?
transmission options?
im building a motor to drop into my 89 firebird my main concern is finding a manual transmission that can handle the torque according to my desktop dyno, which i know isnt 100% accurate, but its claiming my motor with make 585 ft lbs at 2000 rpm with the 100 shot. i was looking into the t56 but i know there only rated for 350-400 ft lbs and i dont want to spend the money just to have it break because this car will be my weekend warrior that i do plan on taking to the track. what would you guys suggest?

Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: transmission options?
Ignore the "ratings". The T-56 will be fine for a moderate engine like that.
How many have you seen break at the track behind LT1s or LS1s, even with nitrous or whatever else? What makes you think it would be any different in your car?
