I have a 1991 Z28 Camaro with the performance rear end. I have to change the rear diff cover as years ago I drove over a curb and pinched the corner and just now it started to leak. I am curious if we have a 9 bolt or 10 bolt rear cover. I cannot look at the car as I have it in storage and it is backed up against a wall. I appreciate the help and reccomendations on a replacement cover would help also. I appreciate all the help.

 

If it's a 91 with the OE rear, it'll be a 10-bolt.

You can use the cover off of any 7.5 10 bolt. The S10 would probably be the easiest to find. If you find one with the G80 it will have a magnet attached to the inside to catch metal in the oil.

 

Sorry, off topic. big gear, are you saying that only the G80 option was equipped with the mag?

No, I've seen standard rear ends with the magnet, but not many. I've also seen one or two with the G80 that didn't have it, but most of the time the G80 has it and the standard rear end doesn't.
