I need some help parts wise
I'm currently performing a T-56 396 BBC swap for my 91 RS, and I need parts badly!!! I live in Ohio and I can pick up some parts that are in Ohio but I'll pay to ship stuff also, I need:
2.) T-5 Clutch linkage and slave, etc (hyd)
3.) Bellhousing adapter plate, I'll edit the post with a link soon
4.) 26 Spline Clutch and Pressure Plate
5.) 168 Alluminum Flywheel internal Balance
(4 and 5 i would like to have like mint condition items or like new)
That should do it for now, PM's are good

Your questions answered, by number:
(0). Where in Ohio?
(1). Junkyard ... they're EVERYWHERE. But, that's not what you really need, anyway; for best results, use 4th gen pedals. Equally EVERYWHERE.
(2). GM dealer
(3). Not sure what you're looking for here? A Chevy V8 BH fits Chevy V8s; no adaptation required. ¿¿¿Qué???
(4). Summit (Columbus)
(5). Won't fit your car. Fuhgedduhbouddit. You'll need a 12.8" (153 tooth)
Who in his right mind did all that ..... stufff .... to a 396? Spank him please. OK stop now, that's enough, he's starting to enjoy it, can't have that. Not that a 396 is a bad motor; only, if they'd spent the SAME MONEY on a bigger motor, say, about 15% bigger, they'd have .... ummmm.... ,,, ..... spent the same money, but got about 15% MORE results. 525+ HP instead of only 450+. Oh well.

Summit covers 2-5 actually.
As for the love of aluminum flywheels... Go for it but it'll make the car less likely to be easy to launch.

Re: I need some help parts wise
Well the reason for the 396 is it was sitting around so i got the motor, heads, and forged crank for free. Anyways, im in Akron. But why won't the 168 tooth fit, if i may ask. I have heard that the 4th gen pedals wont work, but at this point a little fabricating won't be bad at all. I figured I'd have to go to Summit for the Clutch, etc. but i live 5 minutes away! So that's not a problem. About the adapter, I was told to use a Muncie bellhousing, so you need the adapter plate. But from what I've read from you on the T-56 Sticky, you know your stuff. This all started from my problem of the input shaft being 3/4" too long. (so I think)
Thanks!

I'm going with the alluminum mainly for the crisper rev's. I have it on a test stand with a flex plate now, so I love the quick blips of teh throttle.

What parts have you got? Where did you get them? What did they come out of? Pics, if you can't answer the above?
Last time I passed through Akron, I saw several junkyards.... can't imagine there'd be a problem finding rusted-out shells of 4th gens around there. Take your time, walk around the yards, shouldn't be hard to come up with a carcass you can strip pedals out of. Don't bother calling or surfing, you gotta physically place your own eyeball on the merchandise inventory.

Re: I need some help parts wise
An LS1 T56 trans. and bellhousing will accommodate a 168 tooth flywheel. That's what is stock on the LS* engines. Because the input is longer, you might be able to have it machined (assuming spline length is correct) or use a spacer plate (I have a picture of one of these; it just spaces the trans. from the bellhousing.
Or you can use a 168 tooth fitment Chevy bellhousing + adapter plate which has the throwout bearing sleeve bolted to it in order to use the LS1 T56.
Those are two more common ways of doing it.

Re: I need some help parts wise
ok, so the fourth gen pedals WILL work and I'm positive it's an LS1 T-56 because it came out of a 2002 Camaro. I don't have any parts besides how the tranny came (bellhousing and shifter "base"). I did locate a few junkyards with 4th gens in them today. I'll run over there soon. Thanks!!!

jmd,
Which way would you say is the cheapest? Mainly, because I'm laid off for the winter and my money sources are limited. Thanks!!

Else, probably a simple spacer plate.
This is one manufacturer who does a bellhousing to engine spacer:

There are also trans. to bellhousing spacers available which would accomplish the same. I had one years ago that I have since sold.
I am not familiar with what starter would work.
