pro 5.0 shifter - thinking about shortening it

So when I did my t-56 swap i bough the pro 5.0 and I love it, great shifts good feel, no problems. But I have been tossing the idea around in my head of taking like 1/2" - 1" out of it. I would obviously just cut out the some of the middle and weld it back together.

Thoughts?

just cut it and get it re-threaded, or buy a lou's short stick.
I've got the Lou's Short Stick with they 45* bend in it,

I have the Pro 5.0 on my T5 and ended up buying a shorter handle which UMI makes for it. Now its at the perfect height imo.

cool! does your shifter **** hit the seat in first and second?

After seeing lou's shifter I might go the cut and weld method so I can give it some angle towards the driver and back like Lou's. According to the website it clocks it 25% towards the driver and 5% back.

This is what my shift handle looks like. I am using the Pro 5.0 with UMI's shortened stick and pistol grip ****.

It hits my seat in 2nd only because I have the corbeau seats and they sit higher and have that large side cusion.
With stock seats it doesn't hit.
