blown tranny? 700r4..
So I just got lucky (or so I thought) and picked up a 88 iroc for $500. Its been sitting awhile, but its a L98 full option car and has just about everything. So the cars been sittting for some time, I had to change the fuel pump to get it going but it runs great now except the shifter cable was broken. So I changed the cable and now I have no reverse, and in drive it won't come out of first gear. I've played around with the linkage and pretty sure I've got it right with the cable now, I just don't know if the tranny is burnt out or if it could be a solenoid or something less complicated. Its a tpi 350 and 700r4. Any help or ideas would be awesome.

i dont think its blown, sounds like the governor may be sticking and a sticky valve body.

Re: blown tranny? 700r4..
I was planning on putting a new filter in it today after work and maybe pulling out the valve body and blowing it out.. I've never worked on a 700 tho I've always had th350s or 400s n I'm not much of an auto tranny guy as it is.. where is the governor and would it need replaced or just taken out and cleaned up or something?

Anybody tell me what I'm looking for with the governor? I pulled the cover off it and the thing in there turns kinda like the shift mechanism. It goes in 2 positions fine but any farther eaither way is rough to move it and I don't wana force it n make my situation worse...
