transmission mount

I have an 87 trans am with the 700r4 transmission, when I speed up something hits the car I'm guessing the transmission mount is broken. Is it hard to replace the transmission mount? What do I have to do? Thanks

Re: transmission mount

It's very easy to do put the car up on ramps or jack stands support the transmission with a jack. Unbolt the trans crossmember and trans mount replace and bolt everything back in its only 6 bolts and 1 nut.

Re: transmission mount

I had a similar issue with mine. Turns out it was the torque arm bushing that had broken. It's attached to the side of the transmission. It was hitting the tunnel everytime there was a change in speed.

Re: transmission mount

A broken torque arm mount isn't unheard of by any means, but the trans mount is far more often the culprit. You'll be under the car, so checking both won't be an inconvenience.
