Tranny Slips

From what I can tell it is my transmission slipping.

Symptoms:
1. Jerking when accelerating and cruising (more noticeable accelerating)

2. When attempting to accelerate at a decent speed (not pedal to the floor) the rpms go to about 3.5k and the car barely accelerates then catches and goes.

3. Today I was taking some S Curves around my home town and going 55-60 with the pedal down just enough to stay at a constant speed the transmission would shift down while taking a left turn on the S Curve and when I got to the right turn it drove normal. I went on different S Curves. Ones that started going left and one that started right.

Extra Info:
I am told by the previous owner that the car has a shift kit. Don't know if that makes a difference.

Last I knew the fluid level is normal.

Also, I am going to only have it running for maybe two or three more weeks and then it's going into hibernation for the winter.

I need to know what's going on and what I can do. Please help me out!

Check your trans fluid, engine running, hot and on level ground. If ok, check for a code...you might have a TCC solenoid issue. Smell the fluid. if it smells burned, you're probably slipping. You can tell by dropping the trans pan and wipping your finger across the bottom of the pan...you'll have lots of filings if you've slipped.

If the fluid level is too high I am told that it can cause issues. How would I remove fluid if I do have too much?

If I drop the trans pan wouldn't that lose all the tranny fluid....?

Re: Tranny Slips

Too much trans fluid will blow the clutch pack o rings....it is actually better to be a little under than over. I have used the "oil boy"...it is a suction pump with a long tube that goes into the dipstick & into the pan. You can pick up one of these about anywhere.

If you pull the pan, you'll lose about 6 qt, but not all (total appx 9 if I remember)

Re: Tranny Slips

Alright. Well it probably could use to get rid of a bunch of fluid and get new stuff.
