Cost of a 700R4 to T5 or t56 conversion

I was wondering about how much does it cost to do the swap, and which would be better, a t5 like our cars came stock with, or a t56 which the fourth gens got. Reason is im into drifting/rally racing, and the manual trannys are better for those. And id be doing it myself with my best friend at his cousins house, and his cousin has all the tools we would need. thanks for your help guys!!!

I'd look for a hi miles or wrecked manual LT1 car. pray it wasn't abused too roughly...

skip the t5 all together...you'd be better off welding your driveshaft straight to the crank.

I just picked up a complete "swap" from a guy locally that was guying back to an auto for drag racing for 1450.00 that included 4th gen pedals, trans, flywheel, zoom clutch, hydraulics, pro-5.0 shifter, even a drive shaft and spohn cross member

This. A T-56 will last forever.
