2wd and 4wd transmissions
2wd and 4wd transmissions
i need a 700r4 trans for my 1991 k2500 4x4 truck, a buddy of mine has a 2wd 700r4 trans, i was told that the 2wd and 4wd are the same. you have to change the tailshaft housing, and bolt the transfer case on the trans, is this true?
if this is true and i use the trans out of my 1991 camaro rs 305tbi?

Re: 2wd and 4wd transmissions
No. The tailshaft itself is different in length. You'll need to actually swap out the tailshaft itself. Involves removing valve body, pulling pump, reverse input drum, input drum, and front planetary. Remove snap ring, pull out 2wd shaft, insert 4wd shaft and reassemble.
