T5 install

First time posting, loooooooong time reader.
I have taken my t5 in and out a few different times, replaced clutch, restore of car etc..
I saw a picture of someone bolting the bellhousing and clutch on, then mating up the transmission to the bellhousing. Is this a decent method? My engine hoist can't support the engine and trans all together, so what i normally do is fight like hell to get the whole bellhousing and transmission mated to the block once the engine is dropped in.
The reason i ask, is it would sure be nice to get the main cable harnesses all nice and set with the bellhousing and clutch, then drop that assembly into the engine compartment. Then bolt on the transmission.
Is this a preferred way?
Thanks for any info!

Also, i know it's not the right section, but if someone could tell me the size of the nuts needed for the studs that mate the exhaust Y pipe to manifold, that would be awesome. There's 2 studs per manifold where the stock exhaust bolts on with the flange.

Re: T5 install

I always use the bellhousing/clutch then transmissions method. The only thing you need is a clutch alignment tool.

I always bolt the bellhousing on first, then the transmission as well. It's so much easier than trying to fight with everything under the car.

What's the weight rating on your crane? My 1 ton crane easily handles a 350 with either a T5 or a 4L60E bolted to it.

The crane is a one ton. The problem is the arm isn't very long. In order to get the reach I need, it at the furthest spot already. Just a arm length issue.

Re: T5 install

I see. The arm on mine is long enough that I can use the middle hole.
