Re: looking to build 700r4
The problem is that you said it is slipping... What is it doing exactly? Stay away from B&M torque converters. They have the highest failure rate on the market, and TCI is not much better. If the slipping is minor then I have the modified TransGo Shift kits that will give you what you want and need here. Let me know what is happening that way you can make the right decision, and not spend money unnecessarily.

Re: looking to build 700r4
I've had both the B&M Kit and Dana's (Pro Built Automatics) Modified TransGo Kit.
The B&M Kit provides unnecessary rough shifts for 1/2 and 2/1 due to the solid spacer used to replace the springs. It was cool for about 2 days then I got tired of it barking the tires constantly and snapping my neck. Not to mention it would spin and kick the car sideways in the rain on steep hills for that shift. Might sound neat but it's not when you're already trying to maintain a low profile due to a roll bar installed in the car.
The TransGO Kit shifts very nice once it gets into the throttle. It doesn't snap or anything like the B&M Kit did and it suppose to hold line pressure better. There's a reason why the TransGo Kit is more expensive than the B&M one.
The smaller the converter will have less rotating weight and a higher torque multipler. I used a 9.5" ACT TQ Converter on mine at around 2400 RPM. It worked nicely on the stock 350 TPI.
I'd say give Dana a call he's always been helpful when I've contacted him. The last time it was just to discuss my project of making a lockup switch for my OD gear. I'm also running his older Street/Strip 700-R4 that has seen 6800 RPM shifts without issue.

It sounds like the TV cable is out of adjustment. Make sure that it is tight at WOT. This might or might not fix reverse. If reverse starts to slip when you are driving it, get out of the throttle immediately. The Shift kit that I offer has the large boost valves, and again this might or might not fix reverse.

ok so this may sound stupid to some of you but i like the barking of the tires and the neck snapping so would i want to go with a b&m than for preference? will a b&m burn and tear up my tranny?

Yes, it will tear it up, and you will get tired of the brutal shifts. If you have a girlfriend, and she rides with you, you will get nothing but complaints from her. So why do it.

Re: looking to build 700r4
I picked up one of Dana's kits and like it. While I installed the 'crisp' shift option, 2nd is a bit harsh for me (barks/breaks loose when it shifts anywhere above 2K). But overall a wonderfull kit. However I feel a governor adjustment is in dire need that may take care of that and other issues.
On a side note, if she complains you can always look for one that likes it. I found one that likes the car because it's loud and makes clothes smell like raw fuel just pulling out of the garage.
