Re: shift kit
my dad put in a b&M quite awhile ago, i cant tell you what one exactly but its about a stage 2 of sorts for street and some strip. the trans is stock other than that and shifts as good as new. first has good response nice grab to it and it goes till you can hear the engine stop increasing the rev then it shifts hard into second and does the same into third, then third and forht its a nice smooth shift but i rarely get to forth somehow maybe its because of my 3.08 rear end gears. in a comptetitve sense ive heard great things about both companies even hurst that may have been for a different transmission though. you can also put corvette servos in with your shift kits i believe to improbe the firmness of each shift. i recommend b&m its been in my car for many many years Abused but taken care of and hasnt let my dad or i down
Re: shift kit
The modified TransGo Shift kit that I carry is the best at giving you the smooth shifts at part throttle and quicker and firmer shifts with more throttle. There are exceptions, sometimes the B&M works for someone, but in general they are very hard on the unit. Nobody who builds these for a living that I know of in the last 25+ years will use or recommend the B&M valve body kits.

TRANSGO all the way!!! Nuf said. I've had TCI , B&M and Transgo. Transgo is the best hands down. I even took out the other ones in my other cars/truck just to put a transgo in. But thats jmo.
