transmission mount

Does any one know why a transmission mount would be a dealer’s item? I broke my transmission mount and went to o'reilly auto parts to get a new one and they couldn’t find it so the sent me to a transmission shop and he said it was still a dealer's item, and it cost around 240 dollars

Re: transmission mount

what you have to do is get an Automatic transmission crossmember to swap yours for....it bolts up the same and the mounts for the auto trans are cheaper

the manual trans mounts are really that expensive lol

Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: transmission mount

If you've got the stupid round-looking "hydraulic" one, that's why.

Take out your crossmember and that idiotic mount and throw it away. Get a crossmember for a regular mount and use a regular mount. That's all you've gotta do.

There's probably a crossmember for sale on the classifieds on this site, or somebody parting out a car that has one. That's the first place I'd suggest looking.

Re: transmission mount

Or hit a junk yard. The cross member, auto or manual, won't cost much and the OE rubber mount should be under $10. Guessing $30 for the whole affair.

Tow bolts?

I hope you aren't saying there is no more rubber piece, just bolts holding it. No rubber is a sure-fire way to snap the transmission case in that area.

Yup do as others has said. Dont run a poly trans mount either. I got nothing but vibrations from them.
