Crazy 700R4

I've been driving around without reverse for quite some time now. Just waiting on income tax to finally get the tranny rebuilt. But here is a tricky but confusing issue. During the day, Ill turn on the IROC and she wont have reverse at all. But at night time, when I turn on the IROC, reverse engages. It'll engage in reverse an 90% of the time but once the engine and tranny warm up, then Ill lose it agian. Has anyone ever heard of such an issue such as this one? I was thinking that the tranny fluid is so thick when cold, that itll actually engage reverse. An ideas guys?

For the 23 people who viewed this thread, thanks for not giving advice or even trying to help me. You guys are far to kind. No need to reply anymore. Decided to just do a full rebuild in Mexicali, Mexico. Thats the best thing since sliced bread. It only costs $400 for a full rebuild with a Master Rebuild Kit along with a 2 year, unlimited mile guarantee. Not bad! I wanted to try to do the job myself but with no help, I might as well pay and get it done right.

Re: Crazy 700R4

The first thing I would check to make sure the shift cable is properly adjusted.

The second thing I would check is wear in the shifter mechanism.

Already ahead of you. Checked it.
The didnt mention the reason why Im doing a full rebuild. Just yesterday The tranny took a dump. I put in Lucas tranny fluid to take care of my reverse gear slip. As I was driving home the IROC wouldnt go faster than 50 mph. After about 5 seconds of 50 mph, the IROC serged forward and then a lot of smoke appeared in my rear view mirror. I turned off the IROC because I thought the engine caught on fire. So as I glided down to a stop, I grabbed my coke to douse the flames. When If popped the hood, I realized the smoke was oil based. I then noticed the oil had splattered on the passengerside of the block. The engine oil level was fine but the tranny did lose some oil. The tranny dipstick tube was fine and there was no obvious evidence that the oil shot out of there. After the smoke settled, I then drive 10 miles to home at 30 mph. Just before entering the town, I gradually increased my speed and got her up to 85 MPH. Then in town at a stop sign, I laid down probably about 75 feet of rubber. Let me show you what I did,,,,. Still had power so Im not sure what to think other than getting a rebuild.

Re: Crazy 700R4

Its a reman tranny. I only have about 9 months with it. Everything is new. I refuse to return it only because I was never charged the core, and I still have the core. So I got 2 700R4's. First one has no 2,4 gears. So I figure that I fix my current one, and build the other as a project.

Re: Crazy 700R4

Well for some reason the tranny is working agian, other than reverse still slipping. I took the IROC out for a spin and there was no smoke coming out the back. So I may just go to my Car Club and forget about laying down some rubber. Dont wanna get stranded 10 miles from home.
