t5 problem

Engine: 350 .60 over
Transmission: W/C T5
Axle/Gears: 3.23
t5 problem

im getting ready to buy a used t5, he says its stuck in reverse

so for all you transmission experts, is this serious?
should i buy it ?

Good cores are getting hard to come by. If the price is right I would buy it.

Agreed. Parts and rebuild kits are not terribly expensive for these transmissions, and they are not difficult to rebuild. My T5 is the first transmission I ever rebuilt and I didn't run into any major problems.

If its stuck in reverse, it definitely needs a rebuild. I guess the biggest factor in your decision is going to be how much he wants for the trans, and how much you can get it rebuilt for. Rebuild kits can be bought for 150-200 + shipping online. If you can do the work yourself, you'll probably get a great deal. If you have to pay a shop to do it, get some quotes before you buy it so you know the total cost.
