Who makes the best shifting 6 speed for Road Racing?

Hello.
Can anyone tell me from personal experience who makes the best/smoothest shifting 6 speed for a IROC Camaro. I have read different reviews for different trans and hear people complain about rough/sticky shifting trans. I just want to be sure before I drop down my hard earned $ for a spendy trans that I will be happy with it. My stock T5 shifts fine but it can't handle my new motor for much longer plus I want another gear.
Thanks for any help.

Re: Who makes the best shifting 6 speed for Road Racing?

87 IROC 383 (est 500+ hp) street car but I will do some autocross and road racing maybe even make a trip down the drag strip just to see what it will do. No slicks, Eagle F1 tires. I'm going to buy everything for the trans from the scattersheild to the drive shaft and everything in between except I already have a new Centerforce dual friction clutch behind the T5 now (20mi only). I have read mixed reviews about rough shifting on some aftermarket trans and want something that I will be happy with after I drop some good $ down for this stuff. I just put around $8-10 grand into the motor and front suspension and now I'm moving back through the drive train. After the trans then the rear end and rear suspension. Int. is in the works now and paint by spring is the plan. Any and all help appreciated.

If you want to keep the T5 clutch/FW/Bell, you can adapt the LS1-type T56 to it. Putting some extra $ into upgrading the internals to late-model synchronizers will give you an ultimate Road Course trans. I've built several for road course cars and have nothing but positive feedback on the smoothness of them, even over the stock F-body T56. You can choose either the MM6 close ratio gearset found in the F-body/Viper/base-corvette, or the wider M12 found in the GTO/CTSv/Z06. Costs could range from $1500 to $3000 depending on parts hunting, and if you can build one or have to have it built. If you haven't already upgraded your driveshaft/torque-arm/xmem, it might be the best way to go since they would all need modified for the swap.

The swap is much like the old Aftermarket or Retro-fit T56:

The adapter is:

And the Trans internals upgrade is:

(You wouldn't need the 32-spline upgrade and could save time and money by doing the regular 27-spline conversion.)
