T-56 Swap
What are the realistic Hi's and Low's? If you've got a Z with the 5 speed just how expensive and difficult is it to take it out and put the 6 speed in it?

Re: T-56 Swap
Expensive: could be anywhere from free, on up to many thousands of $$$. Cost me maybe $2500 by the time I was all done; used trans, new shifter, the $$$special$$$ flywheel for 2-pc rear main seal, new clutch, the modified extension housing so my cable-drive speedo would work, Spohn TA & X-mbr, hydraulics, little misc this and that. Yours could be three times as much, could be ALOT less. No way I can predict that.
Difficult: yeah right. Brain surgery isn't difficult, to a brain surgeon; but I doubt you want me cutting on yours. For me it was easy, and I'll give you a COMPLETE guide to exactly what I did: rotate all hardware counterclockwise, allow old parts to succumb to gravity, raise new parts into position (actually I might have lowered a few, my memory is a bit foggy on all the details), rotate hardware clockwise. That's all it took. Out, in, done. Doesn't get much easier.
The sticky at the top of this forum, and the post in the FAQ forum, cover this whole thing in MINUTE EXHAUSTIVE detail. I can't imagine how there's not enough there for you. If there isn't, then maybe this isn't a good project for you to tackle, until you have some more experience. 5-spd to 6-spd especially; there's AHELLUVALOT less than starting from an auto, a certain amount of the work is basically already done for you.

Re: T-56 Swap
T-5 to T-56 is probably one of the easier swaps to do, biggest headache would be the speedo depending on what year and vehicle you drive. Also hope you have 3.4x ratio rear gears cause anything less then that sucks.
Lot of info on all this just have to search for it.
