which torque converter with this cam
i got a 91 camaro 3.1 that i'm doing an engine swap in. i recently purchased a 350 w/ comp cams thumpr. it will be carbd (holley 750) w/ out a computer. i have a 700r4 out of a 91 z28 w/ stock converter. the cam is:
http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...?csid=107&sb=2
it says "stock converter ok, best with 2000+ converter".
i'm wondering if it would be worth buying a different converter or if it would be fine to just use the stock converter.

Link is no good so we have no idea exactly what cam you're talking about.
When the cam companies give a stall speed recommendation, they're very close to what you need. Since they say it will work with a stock converter then you can use your stock converter however you will be giving up some performance by not switching to a high stall converter suited for the camshaft. The higher stall speed gets the engine rpms up quicker into the cams powerband where it will make better power.

1998 S10 2wd 4.3L stock torque converter will stall around 2200 for you and still be cheap and retain lockup. Autozone, etc will sell them.

Re: which torque converter with this cam
yup but if your after maximum performance you'd wanna go with a precision industries vigilante converter available with 2400 rpm stall, or edge converters.
