I have an 88 rs 10 bolt and found an eaton posi with richmond 3.73 from a kid that wrecked his s-10 and was partin the thing out. The unit and gears were 6 months old and less than 3k on them for 200$ Trouble is i need 26 spline axels anyone know what years would have the right spline and length ? Thanks in advance.

Re: Axel length and spline
No S10 axles are the same length as a third gen. Some are close but not close enough to use. S10 axles have a lot of different lengths depending on the year, 2x4, 4x4 etc and can have different lengths from side to side. Third gen axles are all the same length, left and right from 82-92. No other GM vehicle with a 7.5" 10 bolt has axles the same length as a third gen.
82-89 third gen 10 bolts have 26 spline axles. 90-92 have 28 spline. If you find some 28 spline third gen axles, you can swap them over into an older diff as long as you use a 28 spline carrier (posi)
GM switch from 26 to 28 spline axles in 1990. That goes for the S10 as well. There may be some late 1989 models with 28 spline but chances are they'll be 26.

Re: Axel length and spline
90-92. NO OTHERS will work.
The odds of finding them used are somewhere between slim and none. I doubt anyone is going to disable their car so you can have them.
Use these. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SAG-EV10-4/ That's what I have. They're better than stock in many ways, and better than "custom" ones like Moser as well. And, not too hard to find.
