Tranny Question

Hey guys I have an 86 with 111,000 miles and I'm trying to decide on whether or not I want to flush the transmission fluid. I know it has been changed at least once, and today when I checked it the fluid is still pink and it did not smell burnt. What do you guys think, would I be safe to go ahead and do a flush?

Re: Tranny Question

Did "you" replace it once already, and if so when? If it's pink and doesn't smell burnt it's probably O-K.

Re: Tranny Question

I have not replaced it since I got it and I got it at 90k miles. I do know that the previous owner replaced it because he had mentioned it to me before. I don't know what the mileage was when he changed it though.

Re: Tranny Question

Changing the oil and filter is probably due then. That way you can look at any debris there may be if any, in the bottom of the pan and determine the type of use it's had.
