Installing a th350 trany
Ok so im swapping my weak 3.1 V6 for a 350 Gen1 vortec and instead of using a 700R4 trany i have a 350 turbo trany. My question is in regards to my drive shaft. is the th350 the same length as a 700R4 or will i need to change the tailshaft or get a new driveshaft?? i know this is a common swap and i know there is a way to make this work. I will be greatful for any advice. Thanx: Ricerkiller!!

Re: Installing a th350 trany
The long tailshaft TH350 (9") is close enough to the same length as a 700R4 that the same driveshaft can be used. If you have a short 6" tailshaft TH350 then you need the longer driveshaft found in the 82-83 third gen that came with the 200c 3 speed tranny.

You need to strip the tranny right down to change the output shaft to a longer one plus have the longer tailshaft housing.

You can also use the driveshaft off a 82 camaro 4 speed.
