clutch making noise

Engine: 5.7
Transmission: T5
Axle/Gears: UNKNOWN
clutch making noise
while sitting in the car at idle the clutch makes an inconsistent clunking noise, but when i press the clutch pedal down the noise stops and then returns upon me taking my foot back off the clutch pedal. is this just a needed adjustment of the clutch? i have the mechanical clutch setup
