I have a '92 RS with a 305 TBI.It runs like a top, but it has a few bug-a-boos in the tranny.The car had about 162K when I got it. The PO didn't do a lot of PM on the vehicle so I figured I would have the trans fluid changed.Mind you the car had been sitting for a few years so I did a bunch of other stuff too.All is good with the car now except for the following:
It dosen't want to kick down when I nail it,like when merging on a highway; it just gradually picks up speed.
Sometimes it won't go in to Overdrive,however if I shift manually from 3rd to OD there's not a problem.
When it's at highway speeds (say 55-70) it will 'chug' almost like the TC is locking and unlocking.If I set the cruise control to any (highway) speed,I don't have the problem.
I planned to take it to a (real) transmission place, but the funds aren't there thanks to my van ****ing up.I'll have to put this off for awhile.
What do you think it could be? Thanks for your replies.
