swap rear end from my 91 z28 to my 92 rs

is it worth switching my rear end out of my 91 z28 305 tpi auto, to my 92 350 tbi rs...i know the z is a posi but no clue on gear ratio. and would it be easier to swap the just internals or the entire rearend...

i recently move and space is a big issue, also i am on a main street, and must do which ever is quickest and best.

Welcome to TGO.

What the reason for the swap? Brakes, gearing?

Swapping rears will be quicker/easier, but there are other issues to consider: If the gear ratios are different, you'll have to swap the drive and/or driven gears to make the speedo read correctly; if you're swapping from drum to disc or disc to drum, you'll have to swap the combination valve to achieve the best brake performance, and then there's the parking brake cable issue. Does either rear end have PBR's (alum calipers)?

The 10-Bolt FAQ may provide food for thought:

i'm just selling the z, because the rs will run circles around it, but would like to keep the posi, they are both rear drum, idk about the aluminum part, but both should have all of the same setup via parking brake and stuff, it's only one year apart and neither look (at least not that i can tell) like they have ever been swapped. i looked up the gear set on here and for the 305 tpi 91' s with auto's they should have the same gear so all i will gain is the posi.

Yep - swapping the entire rear would be easiest.
