700R4 and Rear Diff Fluids

Looking to replace the tranny fluid in my car, does the 700R4 use Dexron II? If so, how much does it take, im not going to drain the converter this time.

Also the rear diff oil, does it take 80W-90? and if it does how much?

Thanks, Trent

Re: 700R4 and Rear Diff Fluids

According to TCI, the 700R4 holds 6 quarts of fluid, and the converter holds another 2-5 quarts depending on it's size (7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 inches). So I'd buy 7 or 8, because some converter fluid is liable to drain as well.

What I can find on the net states just under 2 quarts for the differential. If it's a posi rear, don't forget the posi additive!

Re: 700R4 and Rear Diff Fluids

Just wondering if the rear is a 9- or 10-bolt?
