re: mechanical speedo to electric

No that will not fit; it's for an auto trans.

The speedo gears you need depend on what rear gears you have. If your old gears made the speedo read right, then you will need new ones in the same ratio. E.g. if your old ones had a ratio of, say, 3.2:1, then your new ones will have to have a ratio of 3.2:1. Since T-5 gears have a MUCH smaller selection of ratios, you may not be able to hit it right on the head; but it makes little difference, as other factors that affect speedo accuracy, including ACTUAL tire dia (as opposed to "calculated" trade size), tire pressure, tire wear, etc., will have as much effect as, OR MORE THAN, the error in the gear choices.

Actually, nothing I see on their site now, looks like the right thing. What you need, looks like this.

Note that the place where the O-ring goes, is EXACTLY the same size and shape as the cable adapter. Also, it uses the same drive gear as a cable would (7, 8, or 9 teeth), and driven gears that look alot like # 55 except smaller and with about 20 teeth (17 to 22 I think). I don't see that sort of thing on there.

Give em a call on the phone.

Doesn't matter about "86", "nwc", or any of that. I had a 91 or 92 T-5 in my 83 car, popped the piece on the left of the pic out, and popped in one that looks like the one on the right, and voilà, my cable speedo worked. You're doing EXCACTLY the same thing, except in reverse.

You don't need to call me for anything. You need to call PATC.

LOOK AT your rear gears and see what they are, FIRST. Don't bother trying any other of the "guess" methods of "guessing" at the ratio, just LOOK AT THE GEARS. Besides, if you haven't changed the fluid, it needs it anyway; so while you're catching up on the long-overdue scheduled maintenance that SHOULD HAVE BEEN the first thing you did to the rear when you got it, make a point of looking at the gears.

Re: mechanical speedo to electric

sorry miss read the calling part. the rear end was swapped before i got the car and as my own rule i check/change everything (how i now the rear was swapped) its a 308 rear end, none posi or limited slip. lets see the tires are 225/55/r16 if that helps... always check the tire pressure and keep it full.
