84 Z28 Automatic shift handle slipping?

84 Z28 Automatic shift handle slipping?
THis just recently started. So I go to shift into reverse but i have to put it down to neutral to get it into gear..then i can move it back up to "R" same with drive, have to go past "OD" to "D" to get in gear and slide back up. When it comes to Tranny issues i am clueless....any ideas?
