Vibration Issue
Ok, this past two weekends have brought me a pile of goodies to freshen up the 305/T5 in my 87 Camaro. Apart from the tune up plugs, wires, shifter, etc that wouldn't cause this.
Here is my issue: I am having a very pronounced vibration crop up from 2000RPM-2500RPM. I think it may have to do with some of the stuff that I replaced and may have ordered mis-matched stuff.
Now, to make sure that I have the right information and not to trust what summit says for stock replacement. In 1897 where the 305's internally or externally balanced? I was under the assumption they were external. And in that case makes me a dumb *** for not reading the specs properly for the balancer.
I ordered this flywheel: Zoom Performance which says it is externally balanced.
This clutch set: Ram HD Clutch
And I ended up replacing the harmonic balancer after having to beat on it and heat the collar to get the stocker to pull of. I replaced it with: Summit Balancer. It states that it is Internally balanced. I think that in my eagerness to get parts I may have needed to order a balancer that is Externally balanced. To match the flywheel.
I read a post about the flywheels for these motors needing to be balanced to the engine. Kind of like a trial and error type of thing...Sounds funky so what do you guys have to say about that. I have a feeling that if I ordered a externally balanced flywheel that it would solve my problem.
Any incites?

Re: Vibration Issue
Come on guys, someone has to have some sort of input. I searched and never found a definitive answer. I read that there is a GM procedure that you are to rotate the pressure plate in 120 degree increments to possibly reduce the vibration. Nobody can confirm that though.
