whole mess of problems after rebuild, help?

so i just got my car back after a shop did a rebuild on my th200c, i had a heavy duty shift kit installed as well. after i got the car the following was going on; choke light is on, battery gauge is not working, tachometer only goes to maybe 1,000 rpms if even that but only if im at highway speeds and drops below 0 if i hit the brakes, the temp goes to around 260 and if the headlights are on it hits the barrier for top temp. and finally is shifts late, the last is apparently due to the shift kit, but i thought the kit would make shifting smoother. can anyone lend a hand here?

Re: whole mess of problems after rebuild, help?

Shift rpm is due to the governor, not the shift kit. Shift kits are usually intended to firm shifts up and reduce slippage of clutch packs and bands to reduce wear and heat. Smoother shifts is subjective.

You shouldn't have the choke light on if it didn't have it on pre-shop.
You shouldn't have a tach problem if it didn't have it pre-shop.
You shouldn't have a temp gauge issue if it didn't have it on pre-shop.

Get off the computer and talk to the shop.

It does sound like a ground problem...back of head or intake maybe. Maybe a burnt fuse? Distributor wire loose. A lot of times the dist. Cap can get bumped loose from the firewall...maybe..
